Bishop of San Andrés Tuxtla
Bishop José Luis Canto Sosa was born on 29 October 1960 in Calkiní, diocese of Campeche. He was ordained a priest on 27 December 1996, and incardinated in the same Diocese. He obtained a licentiate in special education and later a licentiate in Church history from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He has held the following offices: prefect of the minor seminary, teacher in the major seminary, director of a diocesan school, parish vicar, pastor of several parishes and spiritual director of the Cursillos de Cristiandad and Comunidad Pan de Vida Movements. To date he has been vicar general, parish priest of La Resurrección and director of the diocesan Interdisciplinary Commission for the Protection of Minors.
