Personal and Early Life: Matthew Kukah was born on August 31, 1952, in Kulu, Kaduna State. He grew up in northern Nigeria. Education and Formation: He studied philosophy and theology at St. Augustine’s Major Seminary, Jos, and later earned advanced degrees in peace studies and political science in Nigeria and abroad. Priestly Ministry: Ordained on December 19, 1976, he served in parish ministry, seminary formation, and became widely known for his work in interfaith dialogue and social justice. Episcopal Appointment: He was appointed Bishop of Sokoto on June 24, 2011, and ordained on September 8, 2011. Current Role: Bishop Kukah is a prominent voice in CBCN on justice, peace, and governance. He collaborates with CSN in promoting interfaith dialogue and social justice initiatives across Nigeria.
