Bishop Edward Matthew Rice

Edward M. Rice was born in Saint Louis, Missouri (in the archdiocese of the same name), on July 28, 1960. He pursued his ecclesiastical studies at Cardinal Glennon College and Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in Saint Louis. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Saint Louis on January 3, 1987. He held the following pastoral positions: Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Presentation Parish in Overland (1987–1991) and at Saint Mary Magdalen Parish in Saint Louis (1991–1994); teacher at Saint Mary High School in Saint Louis (1991–1994); Assistant Director of Cardinal Glennon College (1994); Director of Cardinal Glennon College (1995–2000); Pastor of Saint John the Baptist Parish in Saint Louis (2000–2008); and Vicar Forane of the South City Deanery (2005–2008). Since 2008, he has served as Director of Priestly Vocations, and since 2009, also as interim Director of the Archdiocesan Office for Consecrated Life. On July 1, 2008, he was named a Chaplain to His Holiness.
