Bishop of Santiago de María
William Ernesto Iraheta Rivera was born in Jayaque, in the Archdiocese of San Salvador, on January 24, 1962. Before entering the seminary, he obtained a baccalaureate in Mathematics and Physical Sciences from the Francisco Linares Institute in Apopa. He pursued his studies in philosophy and theology at the San José de la Montaña Major Seminary. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of San Salvador on December 27, 1988. He has held the following positions: parochial vicar of San Roque Parish, director of the La Rosa Blanca School Center, pastor of San Roque Parish, moderator of the archdiocesan Curia, director of Caritas, episcopal delegate for education, and—since 2008—pastor of San Marcos Parish.
