Diocese of Tacuarembó

Father Wolcan was born on October 21, 1953, in Nueva Helvecia, in the Department of Colonia. He attended primary school at the Mater Ter Admirabilis School (run by the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary) and at School No. 40 in Nueva Helvecia. He completed his secondary education at public high schools. Afterward, he worked with his family on their farm and was also employed by a dairy company in Tarariras (Caprolet). He entered the "Cristo Rey" Interdiocesan Seminary at the age of 27, in February 1981. He was ordained a deacon on March 25, 1986, and a priest on September 21 of the same year. From 2007 until his appointment as bishop, he served as the parish priest of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Nuestra Señora del Carmen) in Carmelo, Department of Colonia. On Tuesday, June 19, 2018, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of the Diocese of Tacuarembó, Uruguay. He was ordained bishop on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at the Cathedral of San Fructuoso in the city of Tacuarembó.
