Bishop of Teotihuacán
Francisco Escobar Galicia was born in Otumba, in the State of Mexico, on April 2, 1955. He pursued his philosophical studies in Durango and his theological studies at the Higher Institute of Ecclesiastical Studies of the Archdiocese of Mexico. He was ordained a priest on August 13, 1983, for the clergy of the Diocese of Texcoco. In 1996, he obtained a Licentiate in Missiology from the Pontifical Urban University in Rome. As a priest, he has held the following positions: Vicar at the parish of Saint Anthony; Pastor of the Assumption parish in Nopaltepec; member of the Presbyteral Council; Pastor of Santa María in Ozumbilla; Episcopal Vicar for the Laguna Zone; Episcopal Vicar for the Chimalhuacán Zone; Rector of the Cathedral; Vicar General; and Executive Secretary of the CELAM Office for Justice and Solidarity. Since 2007, he has served as Pastor of the "San Martín de las Pirámides" parish, located within the territory of the new Diocese of Teotihuacan.
