Bishop Zsolt Marton

Zsolt Marton was born on 26 March 1966 in Budapest. He began his high school studies in the Gymnasium of the Scolopian Fathers in Kecskemét, and completed them in a state school. From 1985 to 1988 he studied at the Superior School of Pedagogy in Zsámbék, and then worked as a teacher (1988-1992). In 1992 he entered the major seminary and, after completing his philosophical and theological studies, on 20 June he was ordained a priest and incardinated in the diocese of Vác. Since priestly ordination, the Rev. Marton has held the following roles: secretary to the bishop of Vác and notary of the diocesan tribunal (1998-1999); parish vicar in Nagykáta (1999-2000); parish administrator of Dány (2000-2003); prefect of studies in the Central Seminary of Budapest (2003-2008); parish priest in Alsó and Felső-Gőd, and dean of the deanery of Vác (2008-2015). From 2015 to the present he has served as rector of the Central Seminary of Budapest.
