Bishop of Varaždin
Bože Radoš was born on September 5, 1964, in Crvenice, in the Diocese of Mostar-Duvno. A few years later, his family moved to Croatia. After completing his classical secondary education at the seminary in Zagreb and Đakovo (1983), he began his studies in philosophy and theology in Đakovo, graduating in 1990; on June 29 of that same year, he was ordained a priest for the then-Diocese of Đakovo-Srijem. Subsequently, he served for one year as a parochial vicar in Osijek before beginning postgraduate studies in spiritual theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome in 1991, earning his master's degree in 1994 with a thesis titled "Motivation for a Life Consecrated to God: Biblical, Theological, and Psychological Aspects." He continued his specialization studies but was appointed spiritual director at the Đakovo seminary in 1997. In addition, he served the archdiocese as an assistant for the ongoing spiritual formation of young priests and as a coordinator for priestly spiritual formation; he has been a canon of the Archdiocese of Đakovo-Osijek since 2010 and has served multiple terms on the Presbyteral Council. He was the spiritual assistant to the Đakovo section of the Association of Croatian Catholic Physicians and a member of the editorial board of the archdiocesan journal *Vjesnik*, and since 2013, he has served on the Supervisory Board of the Pontifical Croatian College of St. Jerome. He has led numerous spiritual retreats in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Serbia, and Austria, and has organized pilgrimages to the Holy Land, Italy, Greece, France, and Poland on several occasions. At the Faculty of Theology in Đakovo, he taught spiritual theology, New Testament spirituality, Old Testament spirituality, the life and spirituality of Saint Paul, an introduction to Christian meditation, missiology, and the practice of pastoral leadership. He published around fifteen papers on Christian spirituality in Croatian journals. He was appointed Rector of the Pontifical Croatian College of St. Jerome in Rome on April 28, 2016, and assumed the office on June 15, 2016. Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Varaždin on August 1, 2019. He was ordained bishop in the Varaždin Cathedral on the Solemnity of Christ the King, November 24, 2019.
