Bishop of Wukari
Msgr. Mark Maigida Nzukwein was born on 15 July 1969 in Jenuwa Nyifiye, diocese of Jalingo. He completed his studies in philosophy at the Saint Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Makurdi (1987-1990), and in theology at Saint Augustine’s Major Seminary in Jos (1991-1995). He was ordained a priest on 15 July 1995 for the clergy of the diocese of Jalingo. Following ordination, he held the following offices: parish vicar of the former Saint Augustine Cathedral in Jalingo (1995-1998); diocesan chaplain for youth (1996-1997); secretary to the bishop and diocesan director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (1996-1998), and parish priest of Saint John in Mutum-Biyu (1998-1999). He then studied for a licentiate in catechesis and youth pedagogy at the Salesian Pontifical University of Rome (1999- 2002). He went on to serve as rector of the Sacred Heart Minor Seminary in Jalingo (2002-2016), and vicar general of the same diocese (2008-2016). In 2013, he attended a course for formators of major seminaries in the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical Athenaeum in Rome. Since 2016, he has served as rector of Saint Augustine’s Major Seminary in Jos.
