Bishop of Zamość-Lubaczów
Marian Rojek was born on April 9, 1955, in Rzeszów, then part of the Latin-rite Diocese of Przemyśl. He entered the Major Seminary of Przemyśl in 1974. After completing his military service (1974–1976), he was ordained a priest on June 7, 1981. Following his ordination, he served as a parochial vicar in Brzozów. From 1982 to 1987, he studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, where he obtained a doctorate in Dogmatic Theology. A lecturer in Dogmatic Theology at the diocesan seminary since 1987, he also taught for several years at the Major Seminary of Sandomierz. He served as Prefect of the diocesan major seminary from 1987 to 1993 and as Rector of the same seminary in Przemyśl from 2001 to 2006. On December 21, 2005, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Tisedi and Auxiliary Bishop of Przemyśl (Latin rite), receiving episcopal ordination on February 2, 2006. Within the Polish Episcopal Conference, he currently serves as Chairman of the Catholic-Orthodox Bilateral Group for Ecumenical Dialogue, Chairman of the Group for Contacts with Representatives of the Greek Catholic Church in Ukraine, and a member of the Group for Aid to the Church in the East. After passing his secondary school leaving exams in 1974, he was admitted to the Major Seminary of Przemyśl and was ordained a priest on June 7, 1981, incardinated into the Diocese of Przemyśl. From 1981 to 1982, he served as a parochial vicar at the Parish of the Transfiguration of Our Lord in Brzozów. From 1982 to 1987, he pursued advanced theological studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, obtaining a doctorate in Theology. Since 1987, he has been a professor of dogmatic theology at the Major Seminary of Przemyśl. He taught for a few years at the Major Seminary of Sandomierz. He also served as Prefect of the Major Seminary of Przemyśl (1987–1993). In 2001, he was appointed Rector of the Major Seminary of Przemyśl, a position he currently holds.
