Needs an eligible Microsoft 365 Copilot licence on Microsoft's side and an active Magisterium AI Pro or Organization plan on ours.

For your administrator

Someone with Microsoft 365 admin rights does this once for the whole organisation.

  1. 1In the Microsoft 365 admin center, open Settings → Integrated apps.
  2. 2Choose Upload custom apps and upload the Magisterium AI app package we send you.
  3. 3Assign it to your pilot group rather than the whole tenant, and accept the permissions.
  4. 4Tell your group it's available — Copilot picks the tools up automatically.

For each person using it

Once the connector is installed, everyone does this for themselves.

  1. 1Open Copilot Chat or Researcher and ask a question about Catholic teaching.
  2. 2The first time, Copilot asks you to sign in — use your Magisterium AI account.
  3. 3Answers come back with the document, author, and reference they were drawn from.

Prompts to try

  • “Using Magisterium AI, what does the Church teach about the dignity of work?”
  • “Ask Magisterium AI for today's Mass readings and summarise them for a parish bulletin.”
  • “Look up the Archdiocese of Manila in Magisterium AI and chart its priest numbers over the last ten years.”

If something doesn't work

Copilot doesn't use Magisterium AI at all.
Name it in the prompt (“using Magisterium AI…”). Copilot chooses its own tools, and it won't always reach for a connector unless you ask.
You're asked to sign in again and again.
Check that the account you sign in with has an active Pro or Organization plan, and that the organisation you pick during sign-in is the one holding the subscription.
A long question times out or comes back empty.
Composed answers can take a while. Ask a narrower question, or ask Copilot to search the sources instead of composing a full answer.

Connecting Magisterium AI gives your assistant direct access to authoritative Catholic sources — the Catechism, Church documents, papal encyclicals, canon law, the lives of the saints, and the daily Mass readings. Once connected, it can search these sources and answer with real citations instead of guessing.
