Archbishop of Blantyre
Thomas Msusa, S.M.M., was born on February 2, 1962, in the village of Iba, Namwera District, in the Diocese of Mangochi. He studied at the Zomba Minor Seminary and pursued philosophy studies at the Balaka Inter-Congregational Seminary; in 1990, he was admitted to the Montfortian Novitiate in Kampala, Uganda. He studied theology in Kenya at Hekima Jesuit College. He then attended the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA), where he obtained a master's degree in Pastoral Theology. He also took courses on Montfortian spirituality in the Philippines, Italy, and France. He was ordained a priest on August 3, 1996. He served as: assistant parish priest in Mphiri (1996–1997); assistant novice master in Uganda (1997–2000); Superior of the Montfortian Scholasticate (theology) in Kenya (2000–2002); and Regional Superior of the Montfortian African Delegation, which encompasses Kenya, Malawi, Congo, and Uganda (2002).
