Bishop Joseph Anthony Zziwa

Joseph Anthony Zziwa was born on February 16, 1956, in Mubende, in the Diocese of Kiyinda-Mityana, into a deeply Catholic family. He has a brother who is a priest incardinated in the Diocese of Jinja and a sister who is a religious sister. He was ordained a priest on November 16, 1980. He served as a history lecturer at St. Mgaaba Major Seminary (1980–83); studied at the University of Louvain-la-Neuve, where he obtained a doctorate in Theology specializing in Church History (1984–90); and served as a parochial vicar in Busuubiza (1990). Since 1990, he has been a Professor of Church History and Vice-Rector at the Ggaba National Major Seminary. In 1997, he presided over the proceedings of the second diocesan synod.
