Bishop of Luz
José Aristeu Vieira is Bishop of Luz, Minas Gerais, Brazil. José Aristeu Vieira was born in Rio Vermelho, Diocese of Guanhães, on 14 July 1952. He attended philosophy and theology courses at Sagrado Coração de Jesus Provincial Seminary in Diamantina. He also attended a psychopedagogy course at Nossa Senhora Imaculada Conceição Faculty in Viamão, in the Archdiocese of Porto Alegre, a biblical pastoral course in Colombia, and the Spirituality Course of the Priests of Prado in Lyon, France, in 2006-2007. He was ordained a priest on 13 October 1979, becoming incardinated in the Archdiocese of Diamantina. During his priestly ministry he held the following positions: parish priest of Nossa Senhora da Conceição Parish in Monjolos; spiritual director and professor at Sagrado Coração de Jesus Provincial Seminary in Diamantina; coordinator of vocational ministry and of works for priestly vocations of the Archdiocese of Diamantina; parish priest of Nossa Senhora da Conceição Parish in Couto Magalhães; parochial vicar and then parish priest of Senhor Bom Jesus Parish in Diamantina; parish priest of Santo Antônio Parish in São João da Chapada; parish priest of Nossa Senhora da Conceição Parish in Serro; parish administrator of Santo Antônio Parish in Alvorada de Minas; parish priest of Imaculada Conceição Parish in Corinto; and second councillor of the General Council of the Association of the Priests of Prado in 2007-2013. At the time of the source biography, he was parish priest of Imaculada Conceição Parish in Buritizeiro, in the Archdiocese of Diamantina.
