Bishop of Guanhães
Otacílio Ferreira de Lacerda was born on November 17, 1960, in Itapiruçu, in the Diocese of Leopoldina, State of Minas Gerais. He pursued his philosophy studies at the São Bento Monastery in São Paulo (1982–1983) and his theology studies at the Pontifical Faculty *Nossa Senhora da Assunção* in São Paulo (1984–1987). Additionally, he studied Social Sciences at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (1993–1996) and attended a course on the reality of the Amazon region in Manaus (2000–2001). He was ordained a priest on April 10, 1988, and incardinated into the Diocese of Guarulhos, where he held the following positions: Parochial Vicar and later Parish Priest of *Nossa Senhora do Bonsucesso*; Superintendent of Diocesan Caritas; Parish Administrator and later Parish Priest of *Santo Alberto Magno*; Coordinator of Internal Pastoral Ministry (*Pastoral ad intra*); Advisor for Youth Ministry; Regional Vicar; Representative of the presbyters of the *Sul 1* Region; Episcopal Vicar for the Clergy; Vicar Forane of the *Imaculada* Deanery; Parish Priest of *Santo Antônio* in Guarulhos (Gopoúva); and Deputy Diocesan Bursar. Furthermore, he served for two years as a *fidei donum* priest in the Diocese of Ji-Paraná, State of Rondônia. On December 21, 2016, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Tulana and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte. He received episcopal ordination on March 18, 2017.
