Bishop Pierre Olivier Tremblay

Bishop Pierre-Olivier Tremblay, O.M.I., was born on 22 November 1970 in Montpellier in France. He began his studies at the Collège Saint-Alexandre of Gatineau, and continued at the Saint Augustin Seminary of Québec. He was awarded a diploma in theology from the Laval University of Québec and, after his novitiate with the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, he gave his first vows on 6 August in Vanier, Québec. From 1995 to 1997 he continued his studies in Ottawa at the Saint-Paul University, graduating in missionary sciences. On 23 August 1998 he gave his perpetual vows, and on 22 May 1999, he was ordained a priest. After three years as parish vicar of Chibougamau and Chapais, Québec, he resumed his studies, and was awarded a doctorate in practical theology from Laval University in 2008. From 2007 to 2010 he held the role of formator of the novitiate of the Oblates. From 2010 to 2016 he was parish priest of Sacré-Cœur in Ottawa and from 2016 to 2018 he held the role of rector of the Notre-Dame-du-Cap Shrine. He was twice elected member of the Provincial Board of the Congregation of the Oblate Fathers. On 21 May 2018 he was appointed titular bishop of Trois-Rivières and received episcopal consecration the following 22 July. From 27 January to 8 April 2022 he served as diocesan administrator. He is currently chair of the Évangelisation et Vie chrétienne Council of the Assembly of Québec Catholic Bishops.
