Archbishop Santo Marcianò

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral governance of the Dioceses of Frosinone-Veroli-Ferentino and Anagni-Alatri—united *in persona Episcopi*—presented by H.E. Msgr. Ambrogio Spreafico, and has appointed H.E. Msgr. Santo Marcianò—formerly Military Ordinary Archbishop of Italy—as Bishop of the Dioceses of Frosinone-Veroli-Ferentino and Anagni-Alatri (again united *in persona Episcopi*), retaining for him the title of Archbishop *ad personam*. H.E. Msgr. Santo Marcianò was born on April 10, 1960, in Reggio Calabria, in the province and Metropolitan Archdiocese of the same name. He earned a degree in Economics and Commerce from the University of Messina and a Baccalaureate in Theology from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. He also obtained a Licentiate in Sacred Liturgy and a Doctorate from the Pontifical Atheneum of Saint Anselm in Rome. He was ordained a priest on April 9, 1988. He held the following positions: Parish Priest at Santa Venere and Parochial Vicar at Santa Maria del Divino Soccorso (1988–1991); Spiritual Director at the Pio XI Archdiocesan Seminary (1991–1996); Rector of the same Seminary and Professor of Liturgy and Sacramental Theology (from 1996); and Director of the Office for Vocations Pastoral Care (from 2000). He served as Episcopal Vicar for the Permanent Diaconate and Ministries. Elected Archbishop of Rossano-Cariati on May 6, 2006, he received episcopal consecration on June 21 of that year. On October 10, 2013, he was appointed Military Ordinary for Italy, a role he held until reaching the age of 65.
