Prelate of Illapel
Julio Esteban Larrondo Yáñez was born in Santiago (Chile) on August 23, 1959. He studied Philosophy and Theology at the Major Seminary of the Archdiocese of Santiago de Chile. He was ordained a priest on December 12, 1992, and incardinated into the Archdiocese of Santiago de Chile. He held the following positions: Parochial Vicar and Parish Priest of San Gabriel; Dean of the Bishop Enrique Alvear Deanery; Formator at the Pontifical Major Seminary of Santiago; Parish Priest of Jesús de Nazareth; Dean of the Alberto Hurtado Deanery; Member of the Clergy Vicariate team; Parish Priest of San Luis Bertrán; Parish Priest of Nuestra Señora de Lourdes; and Episcopal Vicar for the southern zone of Santiago. He was appointed Titular Bishop of Magarmel and Auxiliary Bishop of Santiago de Chile on May 26, 2020, receiving episcopal consecration on September 26 of that same year.
