Pricing & Rate Limits

This page covers rate limits and plan requirements for both the Magisterium MCP server and the Magisterium A2A endpoint. Both protocols share a single per-user request pool — a request via A2A counts against the same quota as a request via MCP.

Your usage limits and feature access are determined by your plan on magisterium.com.

Paid plan required. Both MCP and A2A are available only on the Pro, Organization, and Enterprise plans. Free accounts receive a PLAN_REQUIRED error and cannot make MCP tool calls or A2A message/send requests.

One request equals one MCP tool call or one A2A message/send invocation. Connecting, authenticating, fetching the Agent Card, listing tools, or calling tasks/get / tasks/cancel do not count toward your request limit.

Expensive operations (LLM-backed answers)

The full Q&A pipeline — MCP's chat tool and A2A's catholic_qa skill — is significantly more resource-intensive than the lighter search/fetch operations, so it is governed by a stricter rate-limit pool:

A2A specifics

A2A reuses the same plan tiers and shared request quotas above. One A2A-specific note:

  • Q&A maps to catholic_qa. The "expensive" rate-limit pool described above applies to A2A's catholic_qa skill specifically. The other A2A skills (document_search, document_fetch, liturgical_readings, saints_of_the_day) draw from the default pool.
