John Paul II explains Jesus’ intimate unity with the Father as a complete exchange of being, knowledge, and action, revealing that the Son is consubstantial with the Father. The Trinity is one divine essence in three Persons distinguished by their relations: the Father generates the Son, and the Holy Spirit proceeds from them. “God is love” names this self-giving communion, manifested in Christ’s sacrifice and offered to believers through grace. United to Christ’s death and Resurrection, Christians receive the Spirit, pray to the Father through the Son, call God “Abba,” and begin to share in Trinitarian life and the Son’s kingdom.
