In this General Audience, Pope Paul VI presents Christ’s death and resurrection as the foundation of Christian faith and the key to understanding human history and personal existence. Because Christ is the Alpha and the Omega, believers should center their thoughts and lives entirely on him.

The address notes that the Gospel accounts leave Jesus mysterious and not readily recognizable even after the Resurrection. It therefore calls Christians to move beyond merely imagining Christ’s physical appearance and seek a deeper spiritual knowledge of, and witness to, the living Christ.
