The Dicastery for the Causes of Saints and the Commission for New Martyrs are actively collecting testimonies of individuals who have died for Christ in various contemporary contexts, often due to abuse of power or criminal organizations. This initiative aims to preserve the examples of these 'new witnesses to the faith,' focusing on their unwavering faithfulness to Christ and their evangelical commitment unto death, rather than the persecutor's motives. Their lived faith and consistency between words and actions are considered a vital resource for the Church, regardless of formal canonization.
