Pope Francis proclaims the canonization of John XXIII and John Paul II through the image of the risen Christ's wounds, which reveal God's love, mercy, and faithfulness beyond the scandal of the cross. He presents the two popes as courageous servants who recognized Christ in suffering people and remained hopeful amid the tragedies of the twentieth century. Their openness to the Holy Spirit helped renew the Church and direct the faithful toward the Gospel's heart: love and mercy.
