Archbishop of Jos
Archbishop Matthew Ishaya Audu, Archbishop of Jos, Nigeria, was born in Tudu Uku, diocese of Makurdi, on 7 June 1959. He completed primary studies at Saint William's Primary School in Keffi, then entered Saint James Minor Seminary in Keffi. He studied philosophy and theology at Saint Augustine Major Seminary, Jos. He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Makurdi on 23 June 1984. He served as assistant parish priest in Keffi (1984-86); assistant parish priest in Lafia (1986-88); pastor of Nasarawa (1988-89); studied Moral Theology in Rome at the Institute of Moral Theology of the Pontifical Lateran University, obtaining the licentiate (1989-91); was professor of Moral Theology and vice rector of Saint Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, Makurdi (1992-97); and was in Rome for the doctorate in Moral Theology at the Alphonsianum (1997-99). From June 2000, after the departure of the current rector of the seminary for a sabbatical year, he was acting rector of Saint Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, Makurdi.
