Archbishop of Toluca
Raúl Gómez González was born on February 17, 1954, in Capilla de Guadalupe, in the Diocese of San Juan de los Lagos. He was ordained a priest on April 23, 1983, and incardinated into the Diocese of San Juan de los Lagos. He studied Sacred Music and Moral Theology at the Alphonsian Academy in Rome, where he obtained a Licentiate degree. He was appointed Bishop of Tenancingo on November 26, 2009, and received episcopal ordination on January 25, 2010. Since 2018, he has served as the head of the Liturgical Music division for the Mexican Episcopal Conference. Raúl Gómez González was born on February 17, 1954, in Capilla de Guadalupe, Jalisco. He began his studies at the Minor Seminary in Guadalajara; following the establishment of the Diocese of San Juan de los Lagos in 1972, he entered the local diocesan seminary to continue his studies in preparation for ordination. After being ordained a priest on April 23, 1983, and serving briefly in pastoral ministry as a parochial vicar, he was sent to Rome between 1984 and 1986 to complete his training, earning a Licentiate in Moral Theology from the Alphonsian Academy. He subsequently served as parish priest in San Miguel, coordinator for the laity in the vicariate, director of the Cathedral Choir and the diocesan School of Music, and professor of Moral Theology and Music at the diocesan seminary. Since March 2004, he has been the parish priest of "San Juan Bautista" parish in San Juan de los Lagos, and since 2008, he has served as Vicar General of his diocese.
