Archbishop of Katowice
Rev. Msgr. Andrzej Przybylski was born on 26 November 1964 in Łowicz (diocese of Łowicz). After taking the high school exams and completing his university studies in pedagogy, in 1988 he was admitted to the major seminary of Częstochowa and on 30 May 1993 he was ordained a priest for the same archdiocese. From 1993 to 1994 he was vicar of the parish of St. Francis in Częstochowa, and subsequently (in the years 1994-1998) he was the personal secretary of Archbishop Stanisław Nowak, also holding other offices within the archiepiscopal Curia. From 1997 to 2004 he was director of the department for youth pastoral ministry and, around the same time (from 1998 to 2008) diocesan head of student pastoral ministry. From 2004 to 2008 he was pastor of the first student parish. In 2006 he obtained a doctorate in humanistic sciences, specializing in pedagogy, from the “Mikołaj Kopernik” University in Toruń. From 2008 to 2015 he was rector of the major seminary. He is currently pastor of one of the largest parishes in the archdiocese of Sts. Peter and Paul in Zawiercie. In addition, he is vicar forane for the 2016-2020 mandate, and member of the presbyteral council, and college of consultors. Aside from Polish, he speaks French, Italian, English and Latin.
