Bishop of Jaboticabal
Eduardo Pinheiro da Silva, S.D.B., was born on January 20, 1959, in Lins, in the State of São Paulo. He pursued his studies in Philosophy at the *Faculdade Salesiana de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras* in Lorena (1982–1984) and in Theology at the *Istituto Teologico Pio XI* in São Paulo (1987–1990). Furthermore, he obtained a Licentiate in Educational Sciences, specializing in youth and catechetical ministry, from the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome (1996–1998). He made his perpetual vows as a member of the Congregation of the Salesians of Don Bosco on January 13, 1985, and was ordained a priest on January 19, 1991. Within his Congregation, he held the following positions: Director of the formation house for pre-novitiate candidates; General Coordinator of youth ministry for the Salesian Province of Mato Grosso; member of the Provincial Council; Coordinator of the Salesian School in Araçatuba; and parochial vicar. On March 2, 2005, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Gisipa and Auxiliary Bishop of Campo Grande, receiving episcopal ordination on May 6 of that year. As a bishop, he served as the person in charge of vocational and youth ministry for the Regional Episcopal Conference and as President of the National Episcopal Commission for Youth Ministry.
