Archbishop of Luanda
Filomeno do Nascimento Vieira Dias was born in Luanda on April 18, 1958. He pursued his studies both in his home country and in Rome. He obtained a Licentiate in Theology from the Urbaniana, a degree in Theology from the Lateran University, and a Licentiate in Philosophy from the Gregorian University. Additionally, he earned a diploma in legal-administrative practice from the School of Practice of the Congregation for the Clergy. He completed a foundational journalism course, first in Luanda and later at the Catholic Institute of Paris. He was ordained a priest on October 30, 1983. He has served as a parochial vicar, Rector of the Minor Propedeutic Seminary of Luanda, professor (teaching Philosophy, Fundamental Theology, African History, African Philosophy, Contemporary Philosophy, and Theological Ethics), parish priest, chaplain to several communities of local religious sisters, Rector of the Major Seminary of Luanda, and Vice-Rector of the Catholic University. He is a member of the "Jacques Maritain" International Association for the Study of Development, as well as various diocesan commissions.
