Prelate of Marajó
José Ionilton Lisboa de Oliveira, S.D.V., was born on March 9, 1962, in Araci, in the Archdiocese of Feira de Santana, in the State of Bahia. He pursued his studies in philosophy at the seminary of the Archdiocese of Vitória da Conquista (BA) and in theology at the Benedictine Faculty in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). He made his religious profession on January 21, 1990, in the Society of Divine Vocations (Vocationist Fathers) and was ordained a priest on January 19, 1992. He has held the following roles: vocation animator, novice master, community director, and provincial superior within his religious institute; as well as parochial vicar, parish priest, and member of the Presbyteral Council of Vitória da Conquista. On April 19, 2017, he was appointed Bishop-Prelate of Itacoatiara and received episcopal ordination on July 16 of that same year. He is a member of the Episcopal Pastoral Commission for Socio-Transformative Action of the Brazilian Bishops' Conference and Secretary of the Pan-Amazonian Ecclesial Network (REPAM-Brazil).
