Bishop of Tapachula
Bishop Luis Manuel López Alfaro was born in Mexico City on 21 June 1963. After graduating as an agronomist engineer, he studied in the Major Seminary of Toluca, receiving priestly ordination on 15 August 1991. He has held the following offices: parish vicar, formator and spiritual director in the Minor Seminary of Toluca, parish priest, dean and member of the Presbyteral Council. In 2004 he transferred to the diocese of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, where he held the offices of parish priest, vicar general, pastoral vicar, spiritual director of the diocesan seminary and member of the Presbyteral Council and the College of Consultors. On 6 June 2020 he was appointed titular bishop of Garba and auxiliary of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, receiving episcopal ordination on 28 August 2020.
