Bishop of Arecibo
Alberto Arturo Figueroa Morales was born on August 9, 1961, in Guaynabo, in the Archdiocese of San Juan de Puerto Rico. After joining the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, he pursued his studies in philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico in Ponce and in theology at the University of Navarra (Spain). He subsequently obtained a Licentiate in Spiritual Theology from the Pontifical University Antonianum in Rome (Italy). He was ordained a priest on June 2, 1990. In 2010, he was incardinated into the Archdiocese of San Juan. He held the following positions: Pastor of Santa Teresita in Ponce (1991–1993); Pastor of Santa Teresita and Master of Franciscan Novices (1995–2000); Vice-Provincial of the San Juan Province of the Capuchin Friars Minor (2000–2008); Episcopal Vicar of Río Piedras (2009–2016); Pastor of Luisa de Marillac in San Juan (2009–2019); Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia of the Archdiocese of San Juan de Puerto Rico; and member of the Presbyteral Council, the Pastoral Council, the College of Consultors, and the Finance Committee (2016–2019). On November 19, 2019, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Felbes and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of San Juan de Puerto Rico.
