Bishop of Bangued
Bishop Leopoldo Corpuz Jaucian, S.V.D., Bishop of Bangued, was born on July 27, 1960, in Santa, Ilocos Sur, in the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia. He completed his secondary studies at Divine Word College in Urdaneta and Christ the King Seminary in Quezon City, and his philosophical and theological studies at De La Salle University in Manila and then in Taiwan, where he specialised in Chinese culture and learned Mandarin. Having entered the Society of the Divine Word, he made his perpetual vows on June 7, 1981, and was ordained a priest on March 12, 1988. After some years of ministry in a parish and at the Divine Word university campus in Taiwan, he returned home in 1995 to continue the same work as a university chaplain in Manila. In 2000 he became district superior in the Central Divine Word Province of Manila, and in 2005 provincial superior. On January 5, 2007, he was appointed Bishop of Bangued. He received episcopal ordination on March 26, 2007, at Bangued, with Gaudencio Borbon Rosales as principal consecrator and Fernando Filoni and Artemio Lomboy Rillera as co-consecrators. He was installed as Bishop of Bangued on March 31, 2007.
