Biography: Pope Benedict XVI appointed Bishop Lawrence Pius Dorairaj, Auxiliary Bishop of Madras-Mylapore, as the new Bishop of Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu on Friday, January 13, 2012 Bishop Lawrence Pius Dorairaj was born in Chennai in June 1954. He was ordained a priest on Dec. 28, 1981, and appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Madras-Mylapore on Dec. 28, 1998. His episcopal ordination was on Feb. 21, 1999. Bishop Dorairaj was a professor at the Sacred Heart Major Seminary before he became the archdiocesan prelate.
