Bishop Ferenc Palánki

Ferenc Palánki was born on March 11, 1964, in Balassagyarmat. After completing his secondary education in Balassagyarmat (1978–1982), he obtained a diploma in telecommunications from the Higher Institute of Győr (1983–1987). He pursued philosophical and theological studies at the Higher Institute of Theology in Esztergom. He earned a Licentiate degree from the Faculty of Canon Law at the Péter Pázmány Catholic University in Budapest. He was ordained a priest on June 18, 1994. As a priest, he held the following positions: parochial vicar in Balassagyarmat (1994–1996); parish priest in Dorogháza (1996–2000) and Püspökszilágy (2000–2005); spiritual director at the Vác Seminary (2005–2010); Defender of the Bond at the diocesan tribunal (1999–2010); and spiritual director of the Central Seminary in Budapest (2010). On December 27, 2010, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Fidolma and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Eger, receiving episcopal ordination on February 26, 2011. Since 2011, he has served as parish priest in Miskolc-Mindszent, and since 2013, also as Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Eger. Within the Episcopal Conference, he is a member of the Legal Commission, the Commission for the Laity, and the Commission for the Clergy and Consecrated Life. He is currently the spiritual director of the propaedeutic seminary in Vác and Defender of the Bond at the diocesan tribunal.
