Dabula Anthony Mpako was born in the Eastern Cape (Diocese of Umtata) on September 6, 1959. In June 1978, he entered the Secular Institute of Christ the Priest—founded by Fr. André Blais, O.M.I., in the Diocese of Umzimkulu—and subsequently began his priestly formation in 1980 at St. Augustine Major Seminary in Lesotho. He was ordained a priest on June 28, 1986, and incardinated into the Archdiocese of Pretoria. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1986–1987: Assistant Parish Priest at a parish entrusted to the Congregation of the Stigmatines; 1987–1990: Formator and later Rector of St. Paul’s Propaedeutic Seminary in Hammanskraal; 1991–1994: Sent to the United States for further studies in Pastoral Theology at Loyola University; 1994–1998: Rector of St. Peter’s Major Seminary (Philosophy) in Garsfontein; 1999–2004: Parish Priest of Christ the King and St. Mark Parish in Mabopane, and Vicar Forane of the North-Western Deanery; 2005–2010: Parish Priest of St. Columba in Capital Park. Since 2010, he has served as Parish Priest of St. Thomas More in Monavoni.
