Bishop Edward Mark Lohse

Edward M. Lohse was born on November 23, 1961, in Erie, Pennsylvania, within the diocese of the same name. After obtaining a bachelor's degree in History, he pursued theological studies at Saint Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, earning a Master of Divinity. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Erie on April 21, 1989. He held the following positions and undertook further studies: Parochial Vicar at Saint Thomas the Apostle in Corry (1989–1990); Teacher and Chaplain at Central Catholic High School in DuBois (1990–1995); Vocation Director (1995–2000 and 2002–2010); Vice-Chancellor (2001–2007); Chancellor (2007–2010); Licentiate and Doctorate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (2015); Official at the Dicastery for the Clergy (2010–2015); and Episcopal Vicar for Canonical Services (2016–2017). Since 2017, he has served as Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia, and since 2022, as Pastor of Saint Julia Parish.
