Bishop Gerardo Díaz Vázquez

Gerardo Díaz Vázquez was born on May 25, 1966, in La Angostura, in the Diocese of San Juan de los Lagos. After completing his studies in Philosophy and Theology at the Major Seminary of San Juan de los Lagos, he was ordained a priest on May 1, 1993. He has held the following positions and pursued further studies: a Licentiate in Family Pastoral Care from the Pontifical John Paul II Institute in Rome; parochial vicar and parish priest; diocesan advisor for family pastoral care; prefect and professor at the Major Seminary of San Juan de los Lagos; spiritual director for the Dominican Sisters' monastery; member of the Diocesan Pastoral Council; and director of the San Rafael Mutual Aid Society. He was appointed Bishop of Tacámbaro on August 22, 2014, and received episcopal ordination on October 22 of that same year. He is currently the President of the Episcopal Commission for Family, Youth, Adolescents, Laity, and Life of the Mexican Episcopal Conference. Currently, he serves as confessor for the Dominican Sisters' monastery in San Miguel el Alto, parish priest of the María Reina y Madre de los Campesinos parish in Tepatitlán, member of the Diocesan Pastoral Council, and director of the San Rafael Mutual Aid Society.
