Bishop Alfonso Gerardo Miranda Guardiola

Bishop Alfonso Gerardo Miranda Guardiola was born on 6 July 1966 in Monterrey. He was ordained a priest on 15 August 1998, and incardinated in the metropolitan archdiocese of Monterrey. He was awarded a licentiate in moral theology from the Universidad Pontifícia de Mexico. He has held the following offices: seminary prefect and teacher, deputy parish priest and rector of the temple of San Maximiliano Kolbe, secretary chancellor of the Curia, and director of the ecclesiastical archive and of the Department of History of the metropolitan archdiocese of Monterrey. On 22 March 2014 he was appointed titular bishop of Idicra and auxiliary of Monterrey, receiving episcopal ordination the following 13 June. In 2016 he was elected secretary general of the Mexican Episcopal Conference and in 2021, head of the Episcopal Secretariat for the Family.
