Bishop of Koudougou
Joachim Ouédraogo was born on March 18, 1962, in Rouko, in the Diocese of Ouahigouya. After attending the minor seminary, he studied first at the St. John the Baptist Seminary in Ouagadougou and later at the seminary in Koumi (Bobo-Dioulasso). He also studied in Rome at the Teresianum, where he obtained a licentiate in Spiritual Theology. He was ordained a priest on July 6, 1991, and incardinated into the Diocese of Ouahigouya. He served as: parochial vicar at the Kongoussi parish and, concurrently, as the person in charge of vocations (1991–1994); teacher at the Notre-Dame d’Afrique Minor Seminary in Koudougou (1994–1995); secretary at the Bishop's House in Ouahigouya (1995–1998); student of spirituality in Rome at the Teresianum (1998–2000); and parish priest of Gourcy and President of the Diocesan Council for Catholic Education (2000–2001). Since 2001, he has served as Rector of the Notre-Dame de Nazareth Minor Seminary in Ouahigouya and as Vicar General.
