Bishop Andrej Saje

Msgr. Andrej Saje was born on 22 April 1966 in Novo Mesto. He entered the major seminary of Ljubljana in 1986 and completed his philosophical and theological studies at the Faculty of Theology of the same Slovenian city (1986-1991). He was ordained a priest on 29 June 1992. From 1997 to 2003, as a student of the Teutonic College, he studied canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University, obtaining a doctorate in 2003. Since his ordination he has held the following positions: parish vicar in Grosuplje (1992-1994), special secretary to Archbishop Alojzij Šuštar (1994-1997); general secretary and spokesman of the Slovenian Bishops' Conference (2003-2013); prefect of studies at the major seminary (2003-2016) and judge of the Metropolitan Court of Ljubljana (since 2003). Since 2009 he has been professor of canon law at the Faculty of Theology and since 2016 judicial vicar of the metropolitan archdiocese of Ljubljana. To his credit he has several publications in canon law. From 2013 to 2015 he served as spiritual assistant in the parish of Ljubljana Ježica, and since 2014 in the Slovenian parishes of Sela and Bajdiše of the diocese of Klagenfurt, Austria.
