Archbishop of Kasama
Archbishop Ignatius Chama was born on 12 August 1957 at Mutomo-Kawambwa in the Diocese of Mansa. After studies at the minor seminary of Mansa, he studied philosophy at the Mpima National Seminary and theology at St. Dominic's National Major Seminary in Lusaka. He completed studies in Business Administration at the Nyengezi Social Training Institute in Mwanza, Tanzania. He was ordained a priest on 12 August 1984 and incardinated in the Diocese of Mansa. After ordination, he held the following ministries: 1984-1985: parochial vicar in the parish of Kasaba; 1986-1987: diocesan director of vocations; 1987-1990: pastor in Kabunda and rector of St. Charles Lwanga Minor Seminary, Bahati; 1991-1993: diocesan vice-treasurer and director of the council for economic affairs; 1994-1997: treasurer and director of the council for economic affairs; 1998-2002: bursar of St. Charles Lwanga Minor Seminary, Bahati; from 2003: director of the development office of the diocese and chaplain of the diocesan congregation Sisters of Mercy, in Mansa.
