Bishop of Victoria
Gary M. Gordon was born in Burnaby, in the Archdiocese of Vancouver, British Columbia, on June 10, 1957. He completed his studies and preparation for the priesthood at Christ the King Seminary in Mission, British Columbia; St. Jerome’s College at the University of Waterloo; and St. Peter’s Seminary in London, Ontario. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Vancouver on May 22, 1982. Following his ordination, he served in various parishes in Vancouver, Chilliwack, and Mission. He served as a prison chaplain for 22 years, as the Bishop’s delegate for prison ministry, and as Dean of Fraser Valley East. On January 5, 2006, he was appointed Bishop of Whitehorse and received episcopal ordination on March 22 of that year. Within the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, he holds the role of *ponens* for prison ministry.
