Archbishop of Tunja
Gabriel Ángel Villa Vahos was born in Sopetrán, in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe de Antioquia, on June 17, 1962. He completed his philosophical and theological studies at the Major Seminary of Santa Rosa de Osos. He obtained a Licentiate in Dogmatic Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on October 25, 1989, and incardinated into the Diocese of Santa Rosa de Osos. As a priest, he held the following positions: Parochial Vicar of Sopetrán; Professor and Formator at the diocesan seminary; Pastor of Nuestra Señora de La Merced in Yarumal; Rector of the Santo Tomás de Aquino Diocesan Major Seminary; Director of the Department for Ministries of the Colombian Episcopal Conference; Pastor of Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Yarumal; Vice-Rector of the Fundación Universitaria Católica del Norte; Diocesan Administrator of Santa Rosa de Osos (from December 2010 to August 2011); Vicar for Pastoral Care of the Diocese of Santa Rosa de Osos; and, from 2011, Director of the Department for Vocations and Ministries of the Latin American Episcopal Council (CELAM). On May 15, 2014, he was appointed Bishop of Ocaña and received episcopal ordination on July 26, 2014.
