Bishop Dominikus Saku

Bishop Dominikus Saku, Bishop of Atambua, was born on April 3, 1960, in Taikas, in the Diocese of Atambua. After the diocesan minor seminary, he followed his philosophical and theological studies at the St. Peter Major Seminary of Ritapiret at Maumere, and he was ordained a priest for Atambua on September 29, 1992. He then served as assistant at the San Damiano propaedeutic seminary in Atambua (1992-1995); a student for a degree in philosophy at the Pontifical Urban University (1995-1999); professor of philosophy at the major seminary of Kupang and at the Widya Mandira Catholic University in Kupang from 1999; head of discipline at the major seminary of Kupang from 2001; and from 2003 parochial vicar at the station of Baun, assisting also at the cathedral church of Kupang. On June 2, 2007, he was appointed Bishop of Atambua. He received episcopal ordination on September 21, 2007, at Atambua, with Anton Pain Ratu as principal consecrator and Peter Turang and Gerulfus Kherubim Pareira as co-consecrators.
