Bishop Giuseppe Favale

Bishop Giuseppe Favale, Bishop of Conversano-Monopoli, was born on February 29, 1960, in Palagiano, in the province of Taranto and the Diocese of Castellaneta. He attended the theological courses at the regional seminary of Molfetta. He was ordained a priest for Castellaneta on July 6, 1985. He subsequently attended the Pontifical Lateran University, where in 2005 he took his degree in utroque iure. He served as episcopal master of ceremonies (1983-2000); assistant parish priest (1988-2003) and then parish priest of the cathedral (2003-2011); chancellor of the curia (1989-1997); judicial vicar (2004-2010); and vicar general (1997-2011). From 2011 he served as spiritual director at the Pio XI Apulian Regional Seminary of Molfetta and delegate for the young clergy of the Diocese of Castellaneta. During the vacancy of that see in 2013 he was elected diocesan administrator. He has been a prelate of honour of His Holiness since 2009. On February 5, 2016, he was appointed Bishop of Conversano-Monopoli. He received episcopal ordination on April 9, 2016, at Castellaneta, with Claudio Maniago as principal consecrator and Domenico Padovano and Francesco Cacucci as co-consecrators. He was installed as Bishop of Conversano-Monopoli on April 30, 2016.
