Bishop Juarez Delorto Secco

Bishop Juarez Delorto Secco, Bishop of Caratinga, Minas Gerais, was born on 4 July 1970 in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, in the diocese of the same name, in the State of Espirito Santo. He carried out his studies in philosophy in the Bom Pastor Seminary in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim-ES and in theology at the Instituto de Filosofia e Teologia da Arquidiocese de Vitoria-IFTAV in Vitoria-ES. He attended the course in civil law, obtaining a postgraduate qualification in canonical matrimonial procedure. He is a member of the Association of Prado Priests. He was ordained a priest on 10 March 2001 and incardinated in the Diocese of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim. He held the following offices: parish priest of Sao Miguel Arcanjo in Guacui-ES, Sao Sebastiao in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim-ES, and the Sao Pedro Cathedral; parish vicar of Nossa Senhora das Dores; member of the Vocational Animation Service; member of the Presbyteral Council; chancellor of the Curia; vice-rector of the major seminary; judge auditor; defender of the bond; and member of the National Council of the Prado Association. On 7 June 2017 he was appointed titular bishop of Vegesela in Numidia and auxiliary bishop of Sao Sebastiao do Rio de Janeiro, and received episcopal ordination the following 9 September. As auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese of Sao Sebastiao do Rio de Janeiro, he served as moderator of the metropolitan Curia, chair of the Commission for the Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Persons, and head of the Leopoldina and Suburbano vicariates.
