Archbishop of Toliara
Archbishop Gustavo Bombín Espino, Archbishop of Toliara, was born on September 24, 1960, at San Llorente, in the Archdiocese of Valladolid, in Spain. He is a member of the Order of the Most Holy Trinity, and he was ordained a priest on March 21, 1987. On October 4, 2003, he was appointed Bishop of Tsiroanomandidy, in Madagascar. He received episcopal ordination on February 8, 2004, at Tsiroanomandidy, with Armand Gaétan Razafindratandra as principal consecrator and Fulgence Rabeony and Antoine Scopelliti as co-consecrators. On February 8, 2017, he was appointed Bishop of Maintirano, and he served as Apostolic Administrator of Mahajanga from November 13, 2018, until February 12, 2023. On July 22, 2023, he was appointed Archbishop of Toliara, and he was installed on October 1, 2023. His episcopal motto is Vida, esperanza y paz.
