Bishop Pablo Modesto González Pérez

Bishop Pablo Modesto González Pérez, S.D.B., was born on 30 June 1959 in San Antonio de los Altos, diocese of Los Teques, Venezuela. He was awarded a bachelor of science in Venezuela, a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the Salesian Pontifical University of Rome, a licentiate in education from the Universidad Nacional Experimental Simón Rodríguez in Caracas and a licentiate in pastoral theology from the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca, Spain. He gave his perpetual vows on 3 September 1983 and was ordained a priest on 26 July 1986. He has held the following offices: parish vicar and bursar of San Francisco de Sales in Caracas (1986-1995), parish priest and local superior of San Juan Bosco in Valencia-Venezuela (1995-2002), provincial counsellor (2000-2006), parish priest and local superior of San Francisco de Sales in Caracas (2002-2005), parish priest and local superior of San Juan Bosco in Los Teques (2005-2008), and director of the Don Bosco Agricultural Centre in El Molinete in the archdiocese of Maracaibo (2010-2015). On 3 December 2015 he was elected first bishop of Guasdualito, receiving episcopal ordination on 6 February 2016. The prelate is a member of the Permanent Commission of the Episcopal Conference, as well as chair of the Episcopal Commission for Culture and Cultural Heritage.
