Archbishop Orazio Soricelli

Archbishop Orazio Soricelli, Archbishop of Amalfi-Cava de' Tirreni, was born on July 9, 1952, in Calvi, in the province of Benevento and the Archdiocese of Benevento. He completed his studies at the Pontifical Regional Seminary of Benevento, where he obtained his bachelor's degree. He was ordained a deacon on January 4, 1976, and a priest for Benevento on September 11, 1976, in Apice. Among the principal offices he held were vice-rector of the regional seminary (1976-1977) and assistant parish priest of San Modesto (1977-1985), becoming its parish priest in 1986. He also served as parish priest of Santissima Addolorata in Benevento, vicar forane of the Benevento zone, diocesan and regional director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, assistant of the neocatechumenal communities of Benevento, and a member of the diocesan pastoral council. He is a member of the Pauline institute Gesù Sacerdote. On June 3, 2000, he was appointed Archbishop of Amalfi-Cava de' Tirreni. He received episcopal ordination on June 30, 2000, with Michele Giordano as principal consecrator and Serafino Sprovieri and Beniamino Depalma as co-consecrators. He was installed as Archbishop of Amalfi-Cava de' Tirreni on September 23, 2000.
