Archbishop of Trujillo
Gilberto Alfredo Vizcarra Mori, S.J., was born on February 11, 1960, in Lima (Peru). After completing his primary and secondary education at the La Salle school in Lima, he attended the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Lima (1977–1979) and subsequently the National University of San Marcos in Lima (1980–1981) to study Civil Law. He entered the Novitiate of the Society of Jesus in 1982, continuing his studies in Philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (1985–1987) and in Theology at the Jesuit Faculty’s theologate in Belo Horizonte, Brazil (1991–1994). He later obtained a Licentiate in Arabic language studies in Cairo, Egypt (1994–1996), and a Licentiate from the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies in Rome (2001–2003). He made his perpetual profession on August 15, 2001. He was ordained a priest on July 31, 1994. Following his priestly ordination, he held the following positions: 1994–1996: Arabic language studies; 1997–1998: Collaborator in the Society of Jesus’s vocational ministry in Lima; 1997–2000: Parish priest of San Pedro y San Pablo in Bitkine, in the Apostolic Vicariate of Mongo, Chad; 2001–2003: Studies at the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies in Rome; 2003–2011: Parish priest of San Ignacio in the Vicariate of Mongo, Chad; Community Superior (2005); 2007–2011: Founder and Director of the *Fe y Alegría* project in Chad; 2012–2013: Parochial Vicar of Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús in Abeché, in the Apostolic Vicariate of Mongo; since 2013: assigned to the role of Spiritual Director at the *Colegio La Inmaculada* in Lima, while continuing to serve as Parochial Vicar in Abeché (Chad).
